“It’s hard not be drawn in by the Pathos Kratos. It’s powerful, yet can sound as refined and as elegant as any tiny valve amplifier. It’s warm, yet not soft and soggy sounding. It fills the room with sound, driving ‘difficult’ speakers with ease and making it more natural to drive loudspeakers to seem like they just got a bit bigger and more powerful.”
In Greek mythology, Kratos is the god of strength, might, and power. The Pathos Kratos is based on Pathos’ famous hybrid circuit featuring tubes in the preamp stage, and a MOSFET final stage, offering 200 W per channel.
The design electrically separates the pre and power stages, with the preamplification circuit working in in pure class-A. The Tung-Sol ECC803S tubes offer a warm, deep, dynamic sound. The final MOSFET stage in class AB is strongly polarized in class A, and drives any loudspeaker with power and grace.
Kratos is also headphone amplifier with dedicated circuitry (2 W @ 32 Ω).
Kratos’ can be upgraded with an optional DAC, and an optional phonostage.
