Shortly after its 2011 release, the Hydra Triton became the most critically and professionally endorsed product of its kind, receiving awards and accolades from recording professionals and top editors at US and international magazines. The Hydra Triton's overwhelming success paved the way for the introduction of it's "second-half", the Hydra Typhon. Pushing the boundaries of performance through design innovation and patented science has always separated Shunyata Research product designs from others in their category. The Hydra Triton/Typhon combination represent the working definition of those ideals. Within the Typhon's Triton-size case are two massive Noise Isolation Chambers (NIC's). These cylindrical chambers take up the entire space within the Typhon's chassis and account for the majority of the Typhon's 43 pound weight. Each NIC contains an enormous volume of Shunyata's patented ZrCa-2000 compound, which absorbs and dissipates high-frequency noise. Shunyata's hollow-core VTX wiring, culled from ultra-pure CDA-101 copper, runs through the chambers and connects to the IEC at the back of the Typhon. In essence, the Typhon is a purpose-built slave unit for the Hydra Triton. Must be paired with the Hydra Triton Power Conditioner
The Hydra Triton is Shunyata's pure Reference power distributor. Triton has double the filtration of the Talos, almost double-size Noise Isolation Chambers and a heavier gauge buss-system. For reference recording, film and music systems that have more than 4-5 components the Hydra Triton should be considered first. Hydra Talos has all the elements that make the Triton a world-reference performer but has scaled the size and scale of these items back just enough to make the six-outlet Talos more affordable. The Hydra Cyclops is essentially a Hydra Triton with two outlets. The Hydra Cyclops are for those with more than one dedicated line or for systems with remote components such as amps, projectors, recording electronics that require reference performance in power-delivery but only 1 or 2 outlets.
