Details:
Western Electric first offered the 300B in 1937. Production continued until 1988 when manufacturing ceased due to sagging demand. With the renewed interest in vacuum tubes among audiophiles today, especially the 300B, Western Electric decided it was time to resurrect the classic. Using the very same manufacturing equipment, and with many of the same personnel, Western Electric produces the 300B at their plant in Kansas City. Every Western Electric 300B is made to the same exacting specifications as their predecessors. Each and every tube is rigously tested for all performance parameters. The results of those tests accompany the tube in the form of a serialized performance certficate. Specifications for all tubes are stored in a database, allowing Western Electric to precisely match tubes from their entire inventory.
Each matched pair (as well as quads and octets) are shipped in a laser-engraved Cherry wood box, similar to the ones the company used during World War II.
