For improved stability and damping, the Scoutmaster chassis is made from two 1 1/8" thick MDF sandwiched between a 12 gauge steel plate giving a more rigid, non-resonant plinth. The HRX platter is 1 7/8" thick of finely machined Acrylic. This improves speed stability and allows for the use of the New HRX Stainless Steel Outer Periphery Ring Record Clamp.
The Black Knight solid aluminum motor assembly with a new 300-rpm motor(lower resonant frequency, only 5Hz!) is contained in a separate steel housing and drives the platter via an Aries belt, speeds are 33 and 45 standard, 78 is optional. Very quiet, stable and accurate speed.
The JMW-9 unipivot tonearm is the perfect match to the new ScoutMaster. Low friction bearing mounted to a solid stainless steel rod with VTA markings (vertical tracking angle). An RCA junction box allows for RCA-terminated interconnects of your choice.
Features:
1 1/4" thick acrylic platter
2 1/4" thick MDF/Steel center chassis
Solid aluminum motor assembly with 300-rpm motor in isolated steel housing
Black satin finish
Weight: 48lbs (15 lbs more than Scout).
19" x 14" x 5 3/4"
The JMW-9 tonearm is the perfect complement to the Scoutmaster, offering all of the advantages of a unipivot tonearm at a bargain price. The arm has a low friction bearing mounted on a solid stainless steel rod with a knurled ring to set VTA (Vertical Tracking Angle). As with the more expensive JMW-10" and JMW-12" arms, the tonearm wand assembly of the JMW-9 can be removed and replaced in seconds, allowing instant cartridge changes with multiple armwands. An RCA junction box allows any RCA-terminated interconnects to be used.
New JMW-9 Signature tonearm - The Signature version of the JMW-9 features a stainless steel bearing assembly, fine tracking force adjustment on the counterweight stem, Nordost Valhalla wiring in arm and junction box. It has 2.5 grams more effective mass for lighter cartridges of low compliance, a larger more solid design, variable pivot fluid damping, and mechanical anti-skate control.
The JMW-9 uses the same geometry and mounting as the Rega RB300 tonearm and can be dropped right into the Rega armhole with no modifications.
We recommend the Dynavector cartridges with the standard JMW9 arm and the Shelter Cartridges (available on our cartridge page) with the JMW Signature arm.
